Intact PTH

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is secreted by the chief cells of the parathyroid glands as a polypeptide containing 84 amino acids and has a molecular mass of 9.4 kDa. Parathyroid hormone is the most important endocrine regulator of calcium and phosphorus concentration in extracellular fluid. SDi provide intact PTH assay, sensitivity for detecting circulating intact PTH in normals and for discriminating between normals and those with primary hyperparathyroidism.Intact PTH

Monitoring the surgery effect after removal of thyroid adenoma:

The measurement of PTH before and after the excision thyroid adenoma helps to evaluate the surgery effect.

Evaluating the hypoparathyroidism:

A low level of PTH in the blood is most commonly due to damage to or removal of parathyroid glands during thyroid surgery.

To help diagnose the osteoporotic:

In osteoporotic women, administration of an exogenous parathyroid hormone analogue superimposed on estrogen therapy produced increases in bone mass and reduced vertebral and non-vertebral fractures by 45% – 65%.

Diagnosis of hyperparathyroid:

Due to excess PTH secreted from adenomatous or hyperplastic parathyroid tissue.
